30th Annual Production of
The Nutcracker

The 30th annual production of the Nutcracker is approaching rapidly.

Your dancers are working very hard on their dances for this our traditional holiday concert. Each class should be able to tell you which dance they will be doing. If you are new this year at the studio, know that ALL of your dancers will be involved in one of the area's most exciting and unique Nutcrackers, co-sponsored by West Valley City.

The next few weeks are very important! It is so important that each dancer attend each rehearsal for their practice, both for themselves and for their partners or other members of each dance! We depend on each other to have positive attitudes and to make this a wonderful experience for everyone involved.

Concert fees: Your concert fee of $40.00 per dancer/singer is due no later than November 15th but should be turned in as soon as possible. All trades & scholarships need to pay this fee also.  Please send a separate check marked "Concert Fees" or you can pay online. DO NOT add fees to your tuition payments.  As in years past, the concert fee is for production costs associated with The Nutcracker, costume usage, new costumes where needed, music, props, scenery, rental of our building, etc.

Costumes:Your dancers/singers will start coming home with costumes soon.  Please keep all of the pieces in a safe place.  Please check carefully to see if it may need mending or ironing and do so.  Costumes should not be worn until the week of November 11th for pictures.

Location: We will be using Hunter High School again this year for rehearsals and performances.


Nutcracker Photos and Studio Dress Rehearsals

Pictures: Pictures will be taken at the studio on FRIDAY, Nov.10th and SATURDAY, Nov. 11th. Please arrive picture ready in costume, hair and make-up. Picture Schedule

NO Parents allowed in the studio during pictures and studio dress rehearsal. Space is limited, so please drop off your children and run some errands or shop. It is hard to have rehearsals with lobby noise—Thank-You!!!


Dress Rehearsal

Wednesday and Thursday, November 29th & 30th
3:45pm - 8:30pm

When you arrive at Hunter H.S., please go directly to the auditorium through the front, east doors or the back, west doors. There you will find dancers from your class sitting together. This is where they will wait for their dance to go on stage.

I will need at least two mother helpers for each class for BOTH rehearsals and BOTH performances. Please let me know if you can volunteer; I will have a sign-up list.

The dancers may watch each other dance for the rehearsals and are free to leave when their dance and finale’ are finished.

There can be no children running in the halls or up the isles!!!


Parents- please find sitters for younger ones-We love them, but babes in arms are not welcome at rehearsals or performances-it makes it too hard. Thank-you!

ALL children are in both Friday & Saturday Performances!

Please arrive by 5:30pm on Friday and 11:30am on Saturday in costume and make-up (eye shadow, blush, lipstick).

Party Scene through Snow needs to meet in the chorus room, directly behind the stage with the exception of Fishies & Snow Sprites who may sit with their mothers until after the party scene then you may come back stage.

The second half of the show may sit with their families until after intermission and then all 2nd half dancers may go back to the band room.

This entire production is magical and I would like the children to see the entire show at least one of the nights. Please pick up your dancers from the band room as soon as their dance is over. Only leave and return from the North door at the back of the auditorium, being as quiet as possible, so as not to disturb the audience. Please leave in-between dances only.

Please be courteous to the audience around you! You may not take videos and pictures during the actual performances! This is a professional performance and the dancers work very hard to prepare a quality production and you parents deserve a courteous audience as well without people trying to take pictures on cell phones, etc.

All Nutcracker tickets are $6.00. Each family will receive 1 complimentary ticket to be used for moms to bring their children in and out of the performance. All additional tickets may be purchased either from the studio or at the door prior to performance.

Costume return will be immediately following the final performance on Saturday afternoon.
No Exceptions!!!!
There will be a charge of $10.00 per costume if it is not returned that night! Please bring a change of clothes for your dancers. Make sure it is checked off the return list, which will be in the hall backstage. Again, charges will be made for any costumes or costume pieces not turned in that night. It makes it too hard to put individual costumes away after they are cleaned & put away.
